Possible Causes
Mower operating on excessive slope beyond AL-KO specification, Tilt sensor misaligned or faulty, Debris wedged under chassis causing false tilt reading, Damaged safety sensor PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the main power and keep the mower on a stable surface before inspection.
- Check slope conditions: Verify that the mower is not working on slopes steeper than the maximum gradient specified in your AL-KO manual (often around 35%). Move the charging station and boundary wire if necessary.
- Inspect for obstructions: Look under the mower for stones, branches, or uneven turf that could lift one side of the chassis. Remove any obstacles and level the ground if needed.
- Clean underbody: Grass buildup can press against the tilt sensor housing. Carefully scrape off packed grass with a plastic tool and brush away debris.
- Check tilt sensor mounting: With power off, remove the top cover and locate the tilt sensor (often a small module fixed to the main chassis). Ensure it is firmly screwed down and not loose or hanging.
- Reconnect wiring: Inspect the connector from the tilt sensor to the main or safety PCB. Reseat the plug and check for corrosion.
- Test operation: Reassemble, power on, and start a short test run on flat ground. If E2 reappears, replace the tilt sensor or safety PCB.
