Possible Causes

Debris jammed behind front bumper, Stuck bumper microswitch, Faulty infrared obstacle sensors, Damaged bumper spring mechanism

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock.

  • Check bumper movement: Gently press the front bumper in and release it across its full width. It should move freely and spring back without sticking.
  • Clean bumper gap: Inspect the gap between the bumper and the main body for dust, hair, or small objects. Use compressed air or a soft brush to clear the gap.
  • Inspect for impact damage: Look for cracks or deformation of the bumper that could cause it to bind.
  • Clean front sensors: Wipe any visible front-facing infrared or optical sensors with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Power cycle and test: Turn the robot ON and start a cleaning cycle in an open area. Observe whether the bumper moves and the robot navigates normally.
  • Persistent E7: If the bumper still appears stuck or the error returns, the internal bumper switch assembly or obstacle sensor board may need replacement by a technician.
