Possible Causes
Clogged indoor air filter, dirty indoor or outdoor heat exchanger, low refrigerant charge due to a leak, incorrect thermostat or mode settings.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the power before cleaning filters or coils.
- Verify settings: Ensure the unit is set to COOL mode, the temperature is set at least 3–5°C below room temperature, and the fan speed is not on the lowest setting.
- Clean filters: Remove indoor filters and wash with warm soapy water. Dry completely before reinstalling.
- Clean coils: Gently vacuum the indoor coil fins. Outside, brush and rinse the outdoor coil to remove dust and debris.
- Check doors/windows: Close windows and external doors. Reduce heat sources (ovens, halogen lights) in the room.
- Observe compressor: Listen at the outdoor unit to confirm the compressor runs continuously when cooling is demanded. Short cycling may indicate a fault.
- If performance remains poor: A refrigerant leak or an undersized unit may be the cause. Have an AEG technician check system pressures and capacity.
