Possible Causes
Plastic parts expanding and contracting, Ice forming and breaking on coil, Electrical relays switching frequently, Loose panel or grille
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before tightening panels or inspecting for ice.
Steps to reduce clicking/popping:
- Check for ice: Remove the front cover and inspect the evaporator coil for ice buildup. If present, clean the filter and coil and allow the unit to defrost.
- Tighten panels: Tighten screws on the front grille, side panels, and top cover to reduce movement noises.
- Relay sounds: Occasional clicks from relays are normal. Rapid, repeated clicking may indicate a control issue; if accompanied by performance problems, have the main control board checked or replaced.
- Monitor: If sounds are minor and the unit cools properly, they may be normal expansion noises.
