Possible Causes

Open or shorted outdoor heat exchanger NTC, Corroded connector at outdoor PCB, Rodent or weather damage to sensor cable, Failed outdoor PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Warning: Outdoor units are exposed to weather and mains voltage. Turn off the breaker and verify power is off before opening the outdoor unit.

  • 1. Remove outdoor cover: Unscrew and remove the service panel to access the control box and coil area.
  • 2. Locate outdoor coil sensor: Find the NTC sensor clipped to the outdoor coil tubing or fins, with two wires leading into the control box.
  • 3. Inspect sensor and wiring: Check for broken insulation, corrosion, or a sensor that has come loose from the coil. Re-clip if necessary.
  • 4. Check connector: Inside the control box, locate the sensor connector on the outdoor PCB. Reseat the plug and ensure no moisture or corrosion is present.
  • 5. Measure resistance (if equipped): Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at ambient temperature. If reading is open or near zero, replace the sensor.
  • 6. Replace sensor: Install a compatible Beko outdoor coil temperature sensor, secure it to the coil, and route wiring away from fan blades and sharp edges.
  • 7. Persistent E3: If a known-good sensor still triggers E3, the outdoor PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced by a technician.
