• Tighten connections: Check all accessible wire terminals for tightness, especially at the power input, compressor, and fan motors. Loose connections can overheat.
• Clean dust: Vacuum dust from coils, motors, and the control board area. Dust on hot components can produce odor when first heated.
• Component replacement: If any component or wiring is visibly burnt, it must be replaced. Do not attempt to repair burnt insulation with tape.
• Professional service: If the source of the smell is not obvious, have a qualified technician inspect the unit before further use.
