How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before tightening screws or removing covers.
- Identify noise source: Run the unit briefly with covers on to locate the general area of the noise (front, rear, compressor side). Then unplug and open that area.
- Tighten hardware: Check and tighten all accessible screws on the cabinet, fan shrouds, and control panel.
- Inspect fans: Look for foreign objects in the blower wheel or condenser fan. Remove any debris and ensure blades are not rubbing against shrouds.
- Check fan balance: If a blade is bent, carefully straighten it. Replace the fan blade or blower wheel if cracked.
- Compressor mounts: Inspect rubber grommets under the compressor. If they are hardened or crumbling, have them replaced to reduce vibration (technician recommended).
