Short Cycling / Control or Capacity Issue
Coleman air conditioner short cycles, turning on and off frequently without reaching the set temperature.

Possible Causes
Oversized Coleman AC unit, thermostat located near a supply vent or heat source, dirty air filter causing freeze-thaw cycles, low refrigerant charge.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn OFF power before moving thermostat wiring or opening panels.
- Check thermostat location: Ensure the thermostat is not directly in the path of a supply vent, in direct sunlight, or near appliances that generate heat. Relocate if necessary.
- Replace filter: Install a clean air filter to prevent coil freezing.
- Observe operation: Watch the indoor coil for signs of icing during operation. If ice forms, address airflow and have a technician check refrigerant charge.
- Adjust thermostat settings: Increase the temperature differential or cycle rate if your thermostat allows, to reduce short cycling.
Note: If the unit is significantly oversized for the space, only equipment replacement or zoning will fully resolve short cycling.
