GE air conditioner does not respond to front panel buttons.

Safety: Unplug the unit.

Steps:

• Try remote: If the remote still controls the unit, the issue is likely with the local keypad.
• Inspect panel: Remove the front grille and unscrew the control panel. Check for moisture, corrosion, or physical damage.
• Reseat cable: Disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable between the keypad and the main board.
• Dry and clean: If moisture is present, dry thoroughly and clean light corrosion with isopropyl alcohol.
• Replace panel: If buttons remain unresponsive, replace the keypad/control panel assembly.
