Safety: Unplug the unit. Wear gloves and a mask if you are sensitive to mold.
Steps:
- Clean filter: Wash the air filter thoroughly with soap and water, and allow it to dry.
- Access evaporator: Remove the front cover to expose the evaporator coil and drain pan.
- Clean coil: Use a non-rinse foaming coil cleaner approved for AC units. Follow the product instructions carefully.
- Clean drain pan: Wipe out slime and debris from the drain pan. Ensure the drain hole is clear.
- Improve drainage: Confirm the unit is properly tilted and draining correctly.
- Run fan-only mode: After cleaning, run the unit in FAN mode for 30–60 minutes to help dry the coil and reduce any lingering odor.
