Possible Causes
Failed ECM blower motor, blown indoor control board fuse, faulty blower relay on control board, seized blower wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the furnace/air handler at the breaker. Blower compartments may have sharp edges.
- Step 1 – Check thermostat fan setting: Set the fan to ON. If the blower still does not run, proceed.
- Step 2 – Inspect fuse: Check the low-voltage fuse on the indoor control board and replace it if blown. If it blows again, there is a wiring short.
- Step 3 – Inspect blower wheel: Remove the blower compartment door and check if the wheel spins freely by hand. If seized or noisy, the motor bearings may be bad.
- Step 4 – Check motor connections: Ensure the ECM motor plug is fully seated. If the motor is getting power but not running, it likely needs replacement.
