Possible Causes

Dirty filters or coils, undersized AC for the room, refrigerant undercharge, air leaks in the room, incorrect thermostat sensor placement.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Steps:

  • Clean filters and coils: Wash the filters and ensure that both indoor and outdoor coils are clean.
  • Check airflow: Make sure all supply louvers are open and not blocked by furniture or curtains.
  • Close room: Close doors and windows to prevent hot air infiltration.
  • Verify setpoint: Set the temperature at least 4–6°C below room temperature and allow sufficient time for cooling.
  • Sensor location: Ensure the indoor unit is not installed in a hot corner or directly above heat sources, which can mislead the sensor.

Technician tasks: If performance remains poor, have a technician check the refrigerant charge and system capacity versus room size.
