Possible Causes

Defective evaporator frost sensor, sensor not attached to coil, wiring damage, main PCB fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the evaporator.

Steps:

  • Check for ice: Remove the front cover and inspect the evaporator coil. If heavily iced, allow it to fully defrost with the unit off and doors/windows open.
  • Sensor position: The frost sensor should be clipped to the evaporator tubing or fins near the inlet. Reattach securely if loose.
  • Wiring: Inspect the sensor cable for damage and reseat the connector on the PCB.
  • Resistance test: Compare resistance to expected NTC values. Replace the sensor if readings are abnormal.

If F2 persists with a good sensor and no icing, the main PCB may misread the sensor and require replacement.
