Possible Causes
Tripped breaker, Blown low-voltage fuse on control board, Failed 24V transformer, Loose wiring at disconnect or air handler
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off main power before removing covers. Use caution around live circuits.
- 1. Check thermostat: Ensure it has power (screen on). Replace batteries if applicable.
- 2. Inspect breakers: At the main panel, reset the AC condenser breaker and the furnace/air handler breaker by switching them fully OFF then ON.
- 3. Check outdoor disconnect: Verify the pull-out or breaker at the outdoor unit is fully inserted and ON.
- 4. Inspect low-voltage fuse: At the indoor unit control board, look for a small automotive-style blade fuse (3–5A). If blown, replace with the same rating. If it blows again, there is a short in the thermostat or control wiring that needs professional diagnosis.
- 5. If still dead: A technician should test the 24V transformer, line voltage supply, and control board.
