Possible Causes
Failed compressor start capacitor, Faulty compressor relay, Open compressor winding, Control board not sending start signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Compressor circuits carry high voltage; use caution.
- Step 1 – Listen for compressor:
- When switching to COOL, listen for a deeper humming sound indicating compressor start.
- If you only hear the fan, suspect start components or control.
- Step 2 – Inspect start components:
- Access the compressor compartment and locate the start relay and capacitor.
- Check for burn marks or bulging on the capacitor.
- Step 3 – Test/replace capacitor and relay:
- Discharge the capacitor safely, then test its capacitance.
- Replace with a matching Pro Breeze Compressor Capacitor and Compressor Start Relay if faulty.
If the compressor still does not start, the compressor itself or the main PCB may be defective; professional diagnosis is recommended.
