Tempstar air conditioner runs but does not cool the home adequately

Safety first: Turn OFF power before removing panels. Do not handle refrigerant yourself.

Steps:

• 1. Replace air filter: Install a clean filter and ensure correct airflow direction.
• 2. Clean outdoor coil: With power off, gently hose the Tempstar condenser coil from inside out to remove dirt and debris.
• 3. Check indoor coil and drain: Inspect for heavy dust buildup or ice. If dirty, schedule a professional coil cleaning.
• 4. Verify thermostat settings: Set to COOL, fan AUTO, and a temperature at least 3–5°F below room temperature.
• 5. If cooling is still poor: A technician should check refrigerant charge, duct leakage, and system sizing.
