Possible Causes
Seized convection fan motor, Broken fan blade jamming the motor, Fan motor connector loose or unplugged, Failed fan driver circuit on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and let it cool. Moving parts and sharp metal edges can cause injury.
- Check fan operation: With the unit unplugged, access the convection fan from the rear or top. Try spinning the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding.
- Clear obstructions: Remove any food debris, foil, or warped accessories that may be contacting the fan blade. Ensure the blade is not rubbing on the shroud.
- Inspect wiring: Locate the fan motor harness and verify the connector is fully seated on the motor and the control board. Look for pinched or cut wires.
- Test motor windings: Disconnect the motor and measure resistance across its terminals. An open circuit or very high resistance indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
- Replace fan motor if needed: Remove mounting screws, transfer the fan blade to the new motor if separate, and reinstall. Ensure correct orientation and clearance.
- Control board check: If the motor tests good but never receives voltage when the unit calls for fan operation, the main control board fan driver may be defective and require replacement.
Do not operate the air fryer with a non-functioning fan; this can cause overheating and damage.
