Display shows E3, and the unit shuts off or refuses to start a cooking cycle.

Safety first: Unplug the air fryer and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Overheat conditions can cause burns and pose a fire risk.

• Check ventilation: Ensure there is at least 5 inches (12 cm) of clearance around all sides and the top of the air fryer. Remove any objects blocking the rear or bottom vents.
• Clean interior: Remove the basket and tray. Clean the heating element area and cavity ceiling with a non-abrasive sponge and degreaser. Built-up grease can cause hot spots and trigger overheat trips.
• Inspect fan operation: Start a low-temperature cycle and listen for the convection fan. If the fan does not run or is very weak, the unit can overheat quickly.
• Reset thermal device (if applicable): Some Instant models use a manual-reset thermostat accessible from the rear or inside. If you see a small button on a thermostat body, press it gently to reset. Only perform this with the unit unplugged.
• Check thermal fuse: If the unit never heats after E3 and appears dead, the internal thermal fuse may have opened and will require replacement.
• Service if recurring: If E3 recurs after cleaning and ensuring proper ventilation, the control board may be misreading the temperature or driving the heater incorrectly; professional diagnosis is recommended.
