Possible Causes
Insufficient initial cleaning, grease trapped under the heater shield, non-food-safe cleaners leaving residue, old oil buildup in hidden areas.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and cool before cleaning.
Deep cleaning:
- Wash the basket and pan thoroughly with hot, soapy water.
- Wipe the interior surfaces with a mixture of warm water and mild dish soap; then wipe again with clean water.
- Remove the top mesh or heater shield (if removable) and clean both sides to remove trapped grease.
Burn-off cycle:
- After cleaning and drying, run the empty air fryer at a moderate temperature (e.g., 180°C / 350°F) for 10–15 minutes in a well-ventilated area to burn off residual odors.
Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or oven sprays inside the unit, as they can leave persistent odors and residues.
