Possible Causes
Faulty NTC return sensor, loose or corroded connector, damaged wiring harness, PCB sensor input fault.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off electrical power before removing the front cover.
- Check for obvious damage: Look for signs of water leaks around the return pipework that could affect the sensor or its wiring.
- Engineer checks:
- Measure the resistance of the return NTC and compare it with the flow NTC at the same temperature.
- Inspect the sensor clip and ensure it is firmly attached to the pipe with good thermal contact.
- Check the continuity of the sensor wiring back to the PCB.
- If sensors test OK, suspect a PCB fault.
Sensor replacement is usually straightforward but should be done with the system depressurized if removal from a pocket is required.
