Possible Causes
Faulty fan speed sensor, fan motor failure, loose fan connector, PCB fan control fault.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power before removing the boiler case. Do not touch the fan while powered.
- Listen to fan: On reset, note whether the fan starts, runs erratically, or does not run at all.
- Engineer checks:
- Inspect the fan connector and wiring for burning or looseness.
- Check if the fan spins freely by hand and is not obstructed by debris.
- Measure the supply voltage to the fan from the PCB.
- On models with speed feedback, verify the tachometer signal to the PCB.
Fan replacement usually requires removal of the flue connection and sealing gaskets; this must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
