Possible Causes
Condensate pipe run externally without insulation, insufficient pipe diameter, long horizontal runs exposed to cold.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Take care when working outside in icy conditions; there is a risk of slipping.
- Locate the condensate outlet: Find the plastic pipe from the boiler that discharges into a drain.
- Thaw the pipe: Pour warm (not boiling) water along the length of the frozen section. Do not use open flames or boiling water.
- Reset the boiler: Once thawed and draining, reset the boiler and check for normal operation.
- Prevent recurrence: Insulate the external condensate pipe and, if possible, have a technician reroute or increase its diameter according to Wolf and local regulations.
