Possible Causes

Empty solution tank, stuck or dirty float sensor in solution tank, faulty level sensor switch, misaligned tank not engaging sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off and unplug the unit before removing tanks.

  • 1. Refill tank: Remove the solution tank, fill it to the indicated level with water and Rug Doctor solution, and reinstall it firmly.
  • 2. Check float mechanism: If your model has a visible float inside the tank, ensure it moves freely. Clean any soap residue or debris that may cause it to stick.
  • 3. Inspect level sensor: Some models use a magnetic reed switch or micro-switch in the base. Check that the tank is correctly aligned to activate the sensor. Clean the sensor area and reseat the tank.
  • 4. Sensor test: With the unit unplugged, access the level sensor wiring and test the switch with a multimeter while moving the float or tank into position. Replace the solution level sensor if it does not change state.

Tip: Do not bypass the low-level sensor; running the pump dry can cause permanent damage.
