Possible Causes
Unrinsed internal plastic parts, residual oils or coatings on the heater, dust or packaging residue inside the housing.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before cleaning.
- 1. Initial cleaning cycles:
- Run 2–3 full reservoirs of clean water through the machine without coffee.
- Optionally, run one cycle with a mild vinegar solution, then rinse thoroughly.
- 2. Clean removable parts:
- Wash the reservoir, brew basket, and carafe with warm, soapy water and rinse well.
- 3. Ventilate:
- Operate the coffee maker in a well-ventilated area for the first few uses.
- 4. Inspect for overheating:
- If the smell is burning plastic rather than a mild chemical, unplug immediately and inspect for melted wiring or components; replace any damaged parts.
