Possible Causes

Foreign object (stone) in grinder, worn or misaligned grinder burrs, loose grinder mounting screws, worn grinder motor bearings.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the machine before accessing the grinder. The burrs are sharp.

Step 1 – Remove beans:

Empty the bean hopper.
Vacuum out any remaining beans and grounds.

Step 2 – Check for foreign objects:

Listen during a brief grind test (with a few beans) for metallic or crunching sounds.
If suspected, disassemble the grinder's top burr carrier and inspect for stones or hard objects.

Step 3 – Tighten mounting:

With the housing removed (unplug the machine first), check that the grinder is firmly mounted and all screws are tight.

Step 4 – Replace worn parts:

If the burrs are chipped or heavily worn, replace the burr set.
If the motor bearings are noisy, replace the grinder motor or the complete grinder assembly.
