Possible Causes
Full drip tray or waste container, a stuck or contaminated drip tray level sensor, disconnected sensor wiring, or a failed level input on the control board.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately turn OFF the machine before removing the drip tray to avoid spills near live electrical parts.
Steps to clear ALARM 13:
- Empty and clean drip tray: Remove the drip tray and any connected waste container. Empty all liquid and rinse thoroughly to remove coffee oils and residue.
- Inspect level sensor: Many La Marzocco machines use a float or conductivity sensor in the tray. Clean the sensor and float mechanism so it moves freely and is not stuck in the "full" position.
- Check sensor wiring: Ensure the sensor cable is connected and not damaged. Reseat the connector at the tray and the control board.
- Reinstall tray correctly: Make sure the tray is fully seated so the sensor aligns with its mating connector or magnet.
- Test operation: Power the machine back on and verify that the alarm clears. If ALARM 13 persists with an empty, clean tray, the sensor or board input may be faulty.
- Replace sensor if needed: Install a new drip tray level sensor compatible with your La Marzocco model, or contact a technician if the control board input is suspected.
