Possible Causes

Infrequent cleaning of the brew unit, drip tray, and waste container; stagnant water in internal lines; dirty milk system.

User-level cleaning:

Remove and thoroughly clean the brew unit, drip tray, and waste container with warm soapy water, then dry completely.
Run the automatic cleaning program with Miele cleaning tablets.
Run the milk system cleaning program with Miele milk system cleaner.
Leave the service door slightly open when the machine is off to allow ventilation (if recommended by Miele).

Maintenance:

Adopt a regular cleaning schedule as outlined in the user manual to prevent future odors.
