Possible Causes
Faulty one-way valve at the reservoir outlet, cracked reservoir outlet fitting, residual pressure in the heating block, machine left with hot water inside.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before inspection.
- Observe behavior: Fill the reservoir with cold water while the machine is unplugged. If water slowly drips into the brew basket, the check valve is likely leaking.
- Access check valve: Remove the reservoir (if detachable) or open the base to reach the one-way valve at the reservoir outlet.
- Clean or replace valve: Rinse the valve under warm water and check for debris. If it still leaks when tested, replace the one-way valve with a compatible Moccamaster part.
- Inspect outlet fitting: Check for cracks in the reservoir outlet and replace the reservoir if damaged.
