Possible Causes
Too fine coffee grind or too much coffee, Clogged paper or permanent filter, Drip-stop valve not opening fully, Restricted outlet in filter basket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool before cleaning up hot coffee spills.
- Reduce coffee dose: Use the amount of coffee recommended in the T-fal manual. Avoid overfilling the filter with fine espresso grind.
- Use correct filter: Ensure you are using the correct size and type of filter (paper or permanent) for your model. Do not stack multiple filters.
- Clean outlet and drip-stop: Remove the basket and thoroughly clean the outlet hole and drip-stop valve. Make sure the carafe lid properly opens the valve.
- Run a water test: Brew a full pot with water only to confirm that flow through the basket is normal.
If overflow continues with proper coffee quantity and clean components, the basket or drip-stop assembly may be defective and should be replaced.
