Possible Causes
Faulty brew/hotplate selector switch, broken internal connection to the boiler, miswired switch after a previous repair, failed internal safety thermostat in the brew circuit.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening the base.
- Confirm behavior: Verify that the hotplate warms but no water moves from the reservoir, indicating the boiler is not being energized.
- Inspect selector switch: On models with separate brew and hotplate controls, test the selector switch for continuity in the brew position. Replace if it does not pass power to the boiler circuit.
- Check wiring: Compare wiring to a service diagram if available. Correct any miswired connections.
- Test safety thermostat: If present in series with the boiler, test for continuity. Replace if open.
