Possible Causes

Blocked filters causing overheating, Blocked airflow in motor housing, Failing main motor, Faulty temperature sensor on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off the vacuum, remove the battery, and allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before further inspection.

  • Clean all filters: Remove pre-motor and post-motor (HEPA) filters. If the Bush manual permits, wash them under lukewarm water and allow to dry completely (24 hours). Replace filters that are damaged or permanently clogged.
  • Check for airflow blockages: Inspect the bin, cyclone, wand, and floorhead for blockages. Clear any obstructions as described in other steps.
  • Inspect motor vents: Look at the air vents around the motor housing on the main body. Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust buildup that can trap heat.
  • Test on low power: After cleaning and cooling, reinstall the battery and run the vacuum on low power. If it runs significantly longer without error on low but overheats quickly on high, the motor may be worn and drawing excess current, triggering the thermal sensor.
  • Replace worn components: If overheating persists with clean filters and clear airflow, the main motor assembly or temperature sensor on the main PCB is likely faulty. Replacement of the motor assembly is usually the most effective repair.
