Possible Causes
Battery stored fully discharged for a long period, Internal BMS (battery management system) fault, One or more failed lithium-ion cells
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Never attempt to open the battery casing or bypass safety circuits.
- Attempt extended charge: Place the battery on the original charger and leave it connected for 6–8 hours, even if LEDs indicate a fault. Some packs can rebalance cells over time.
- Check ambient temperature: Charge at room temperature (15–25°C). Very cold or hot environments can prevent proper charging.
- Inspect contacts: Clean the battery and charger contacts with a dry cloth to ensure a good connection.
- Retest: After extended charging, refit the battery and try to run the vacuum. If the alternating LED pattern persists and the unit will not start, the battery pack is defective.
- Replace battery pack: Purchase a genuine Hoover H-Free replacement battery pack. Dispose of the old pack at an approved battery recycling point.
