Possible Causes

Defective Hoover charger, damaged charging jack or contacts on the vacuum, faulty charging PCB inside the vacuum, internal battery pack fault preventing charge acceptance.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the charger from the mains before inspecting plugs or sockets.

Steps:

  • Check mains outlet: Plug another device (e.g., a lamp) into the same outlet to confirm it has power.
  • Inspect charger and cable: Look for cuts, kinks, or burn marks on the Hoover charger lead. If the cable is damaged, stop using it and replace it with an original Hoover charger.
  • Check charger indicator: Connect the charger to the battery or vacuum. Confirm that the charger LED behaves as described in the user manual (usually red while charging, green when full). No light or a flashing error indicates a charger or battery fault.
  • Clean charging contacts: Wipe the metal contacts on the battery and/or vacuum charging port with a dry cloth. Remove any dust or oxidation.
  • Try another charger or battery (if available): Test with a known-good Hoover charger or battery to isolate whether the fault lies in the charger, battery, or vacuum body.

If E5 remains: The internal charging PCB or battery pack may be defective. These components are not user-serviceable; replacement of the charger or battery, or professional repair of the main PCB, is recommended.
