Possible Causes

Low humidity environment, Synthetic carpet fibers, Lack of a grounding path in the design, Dust buildup on plastic surfaces

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Small static shocks are usually not dangerous but can be uncomfortable. If you see large sparks or smell burning, stop using the vacuum immediately.

  • Step 1 – Increase Humidity: Use a humidifier in very dry environments to reduce static buildup.
  • Step 2 – Clean Plastic Surfaces: Wipe the exterior plastic surfaces and floor head with a slightly damp cloth (with the vacuum unplugged) and dry thoroughly.
  • Step 3 – Footwear and Grounding Contact: Wear shoes with conductive soles and periodically touch a grounded metal object to discharge static.
  • Step 4 – Inspect for Arcing: If sparks appear inside the head or body rather than between the vacuum and you, stop using the vacuum and inspect for electrical shorts or damaged wiring.
