Possible Causes
Hair or fibers wrapped around brush roll, Jammed end bearings in the brush bar, Faulty brush roll motor, Damaged brush head wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum and remove the battery pack before working on the brush head.
- Remove the brush head: Detach the motorized floor nozzle from the wand or handheld unit.
- Clear the brush roll: Open the brush head access cover (usually via a coin slot or latch). Remove the brush roll. Cut away hair and threads with scissors, taking care not to damage the bristles. Clean both end caps and the bearing areas.
- Check brush roll rotation: Spin the brush roll by hand. It should rotate smoothly without grinding or tight spots. If it feels seized, the bearings may be worn.
- Inspect the drive system: On belt‑driven heads, check the belt for cracks, stretching, or breakage. Replace if loose or damaged. On direct‑drive heads, inspect the gear interface for broken teeth.
- Check wiring: Inspect the cable from the wand to the brush head for cuts or kinks. Ensure the electrical connector pins are clean and not bent.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the brush roll and cover, reinstall the head, and test on a low‑pile surface. If E3 reappears immediately, the brush motor or PCB inside the head may be defective.
- Service recommendation: If cleaning and belt inspection do not resolve E3, replace the complete motorized floor head or have the brush motor assembly serviced.
