Possible Causes
Shorted drain pump, damaged wiring harness, stuck drain relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power.
- Inspect pump wiring: Check the harness to the drain pump for melted insulation, shorts to ground, or loose connectors.
- Test pump resistance: Measure resistance across the pump terminals. A very low reading or short to chassis ground indicates a shorted pump.
- Check control output: If the pump runs whenever power is applied, even with the control idle, the drain relay on the board may be stuck.
Repair action: Replace the drain pump if shorted. If wiring and pump are good but the board continues to power the pump incorrectly, replace the main control board.
