Possible Causes

Water leak into base tray, Stuck or faulty anti-flood float switch, Overfilling due to defective inlet valve, Split hose or loose hose clamp

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off the water supply immediately. Do not continue running the dishwasher if an overflow is suspected.

  • Check for visible leaks: Look around the sides and front of the dishwasher for water on the floor. Mop up any standing water.
  • Tip the machine (if safe): Carefully pull the dishwasher out and tilt it about 45° backwards to allow water in the base tray to drain out onto towels. This may temporarily reset the float switch.
  • Remove base panel: Once dry and unplugged, remove the lower front or bottom panel to inspect the base tray. Locate the polystyrene or plastic float and micro-switch assembly.
  • Inspect float switch: Ensure the float moves freely and is not stuck by grease or debris. Clean and dry the area thoroughly.
  • Find the source of the leak: Run a short cycle with the panels off (keeping clear of live parts) and observe. Common leak points include the door seal, circulation pump seal, heater connections, and inlet or drain hoses.
  • Tighten or replace components: Tighten hose clamps, replace cracked hoses, and renew worn door gaskets or pump seals as needed.
  • If the inlet valve is overfilling: Replace the water inlet valve, as a valve that does not close fully can cause repeated flooding.
