Possible Causes
Blocked circulation pump impeller, Seized wash motor, Faulty wash pump capacitor, Loose wiring to circulation pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker and turn off the water supply.
- Listen for pump operation: Start a cycle and listen. If you hear filling but no spray noise, the circulation pump is not running.
- Check for internal obstructions: Remove the spray arms and filters. Inspect the sump area for broken glass, seeds, or plastic that could jam the impeller.
- Access the circulation pump: Lay the dishwasher on its back (with towels) and remove the bottom panel. Locate the circulation pump attached to the sump. Check that the impeller turns by hand with slight resistance, ensuring it is not seized.
- Inspect wiring and capacitor: Ensure the wiring harness to the pump is firmly connected and not burnt. If fitted, test the start/run capacitor with a capacitance meter; replace it if out of specification.
- Electrical test: Measure resistance across the pump motor terminals. An open circuit or very low resistance indicates a faulty motor.
If the pump is seized or electrically faulty, replacement of the circulation pump assembly is required and may be best handled by a technician.
