Dishwasher stops mid-cycle with E5; water remains in the tub and the door may unlock but program does not complete.

Safety first: Disconnect mains power and close the water supply. Allow hot water to cool before working inside the tub.

• Check for spray arm blockage: Remove both spray arms and inspect for food debris or limescale blocking the jets. Clean thoroughly and reinstall.
• Inspect sump area: Remove the filters and look into the sump. Carefully remove any bones, glass, or foreign objects that could jam the circulation pump impeller.
• Listen to the pump: Start a cycle and listen after filling. A loud humming without water movement suggests a jammed or failed pump.
• Access the circulation pump: Lay the dishwasher on its back (with towels ready), remove the bottom panel, and locate the circulation pump attached to the sump. Check for leaks, burnt smell, or loose connectors.
• Manual impeller check: With power disconnected, try to rotate the impeller by hand (if accessible). If seized or very stiff, the pump must be replaced.
