Possible Causes
Door misalignment, Weak or bent door hinges, Worn door catch, Door lock not fully engaging
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before adjusting hinges or locks.
- 1. Check for obstructions: Remove any items trapped in the door area. Inspect the door gasket for deformation that might prevent full closure.
- 2. Adjust hinges: Gently lift the door to check for play in the hinges. Tighten hinge screws on the cabinet side. If the door sags, hinge replacement may be required.
- 3. Replace worn catch: If the plastic catch on the door is rounded or damaged, replace it with a new AEG-compatible catch so it engages the lock firmly.
- 4. Confirm closure: Close the door firmly until you hear a positive click. Start a cycle and see if the error clears.
- 5. When to call a technician: If E41 persists despite good mechanical closure, the door lock microswitch or control board input may be faulty and should be checked by a professional.
