Possible Causes
Blocked lint filter or condenser causing overheating, Failed exhaust thermostat, Restricted rear or side vents, Faulty NTC sensor in exhaust duct
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer and allow it to cool fully before working on it.
- Clean all filters: Remove and thoroughly clean the lint filter and any secondary filters. Ensure they are dry before refitting.
- Clean condenser and ducts: On condenser models, remove and wash the condenser. On vented models, check the vent hose for kinks, crushing, or lint build-up. Clean or replace the hose if necessary.
- Check installation clearance: Ensure the dryer is not pushed tightly against a wall, blocking air inlets or outlets. Maintain recommended clearances from the user manual.
- Inspect exhaust thermostats: Access the exhaust duct (usually at the rear) and locate thermostats/thermal cut-outs. Test for continuity. Replace any open thermostats that are not resettable.
- Test run: After cleaning and any thermostat replacement, run a short warm cycle and monitor for E12. If it reoccurs quickly, the NTC or control PCB may be misreading temperature and require professional service.
