Dryer will not start; display shows E01 shortly after pressing Start.

Safety First: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before any disassembly.

E01 on many Gaggenau dryers indicates the control does not see the door as properly closed.

• Check the door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no laundry is trapped in the door seal and that the latch engages with a clear click.
• Inspect the door latch and strike: Look at the metal or plastic strike on the cabinet and the latch on the door. If bent, cracked, or loose, tighten the screws. Replace the latch or strike if damaged.
• Test the door switch: With power disconnected, remove the top or front panel (depending on model) to access the door switch. Disconnect the switch connector and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing the switch. If it does not change state (open/closed), replace the door switch.
• Check wiring harness: Inspect the wiring from the door switch to the main control module for loose plugs, corrosion, or damaged insulation. Firmly reseat connectors.
• Reset power: After these checks, restore power and try again. If E01 persists with a known-good switch and wiring, the main control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a qualified technician.
