Possible Causes
Incorrect mains voltage, Loose mains terminal block connections, Blown internal line fuse, Damaged surge protection components on main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker and unplug the dryer before opening the terminal cover or control panel. Only work on live circuits if you are qualified.
- Verify mains supply: Check that the dryer is connected to the correct voltage as specified on the rating plate. Use a multimeter to confirm stable voltage at the outlet.
- Inspect mains cable and plug: Look for signs of overheating, discoloration, or loose pins. Replace the power cord if damaged.
- Check terminal block: Remove the rear terminal cover and inspect the connection screws where the mains cable enters the dryer. Tighten any loose screws and look for burnt insulation. Replace the terminal block if damaged.
- Internal fuse: Some Gram dryers have an internal line fuse on the main control PCB. With the dryer unplugged, locate and test the fuse for continuity. Replace only with the exact type and rating if blown, and investigate why it failed (e.g., shorted component).
- Control board damage: If a surge has damaged MOVs or other protection components on the PCB (visible charring or cracking), the main control PCB will need replacement.
