Possible Causes

Defective door switch, Broken or misaligned door latch, Damaged door switch wiring harness, Failed main control board input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dryer or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels or touching internal wiring.

  • Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Make sure nothing is caught in the door seal and that the latch fully engages. Try starting again.
  • Inspect door latch and strike: Look at the plastic/metal strike on the door and the latch on the cabinet. If the strike is loose, bent, or broken, tighten or replace it. Ensure the door is not sagging on its hinges.
  • Test door switch: With power disconnected, remove the top/front panel as required for your Haier model to access the door switch. Manually press the switch actuator; it should click crisply. Use a multimeter in continuity mode across the switch terminals. The circuit should close (beep) when the button is pressed and open when released. Replace the door switch if it fails this test.
  • Check wiring harness: Inspect the wiring from the door switch to the main control board for loose connectors, burnt pins, or damaged insulation. Reseat any loose plugs.
  • If E1 persists: After verifying the switch and wiring, the input circuit on the main control board may be faulty. At this point, replacement of the control board is usually required and is best done by a qualified technician.
