Possible Causes
Worn drum support rollers, Flat-spotted rollers, Worn drum rear bearing, Loose drum baffles or paddles.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Always unplug the dryer before disassembly.
- Check load: Stop the dryer and redistribute the laundry. Single heavy items can cause thumping.
- Inspect drum paddles: Open the door and check that the internal drum lifters are secure. Tighten screws if they are loose.
- Access drum supports: Remove the top and front panel to expose the drum's front support and rollers. Spin the rollers by hand; replace any that are noisy or have flat spots.
- Check rear bearing: If equipped with a rear bearing, inspect it for excessive play or grinding. Replace the bearing kit if it is worn.
After replacing worn supports, reassemble and test. Persistent loud noises may indicate a misaligned drum or a motor issue.
