Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer from the mains supply before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.
- Power reset: Disconnect the dryer from power for at least 10–15 minutes to discharge the control board. Plug back in and test. Sometimes a transient fault clears.
- Check outlet and cord: Verify the wall socket has correct voltage and that the Hotpoint-Ariston power cord and plug are not burnt or loose.
- Inspect control board: Remove the top cover (usually rear screws, then slide back). Locate the main control module at the top rear. Look for burnt spots, melted relay, or damaged tracks. If visible damage is present, the board will need replacement.
- Check motor harness: With power still disconnected, inspect the wiring harness from the control board to the drum motor for chafing or shorting to the cabinet. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Board replacement: If F01 persists and wiring and motor test good, replace the main control board with the correct Hotpoint-Ariston part number. Transfer connectors one by one to avoid miswiring.
When to stop: If you smell burning, see heavy board damage, or are not comfortable testing live voltage, contact a qualified appliance technician.
