Possible Causes
Failed motor tachometer coil, Broken tach wiring, Loose motor connector, Faulty motor control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. Avoid contact with sharp cabinet edges when accessing the motor.
- Access the motor: Remove the rear or side panel to expose the drive motor. Locate the multi-pin connector that includes the tachometer wires.
- Inspect connector and wiring: Ensure the connector is fully seated and wires are not broken or pinched.
- Test tachometer: With a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the tachometer pins (refer to wiring diagram). A typical reading is a few hundred ohms. If open, the motor assembly must be replaced.
If the tachometer tests good but E18 persists, the motor control board or main control board may be defective.
