Possible Causes
Failed heating element (electric), Blown thermal fuse, Tripped high-limit thermostat, Failed gas igniter or gas valve coils (gas models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer. For gas models, shut off the gas supply.
Steps (electric):
- Check power: Ensure a full 240V supply (the drum can turn on 120V but will not heat).
- Access heater: Remove the rear panel and inspect the heater assembly and wiring.
- Test thermal fuse and thermostats: Replace any open components.
- Test heating element: Replace if open or visibly broken.
Steps (gas):
- Observe burner: If the igniter does not glow, replace the igniter. If it glows but there is no flame, replace the gas valve coils. If the flame appears then goes out repeatedly, check the flame sensor and coils.
- Check thermal fuse: Replace if blown and clean the venting to prevent recurrence.
