Possible Causes

Defective inlet thermistor, Loose or damaged thermistor wiring, Shorted thermistor due to moisture or contamination, Faulty main PCB temperature sensing circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and gas (if applicable).

Steps:

  • Locate inlet thermistor: On many LG dryers, the inlet thermistor is mounted on the front bulkhead or near the heater housing.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the thermistor to the main board for pinched or broken wires. Reseat connectors at both ends.
  • Clean lint: Remove lint from around the heater housing and front duct to ensure proper airflow and temperature sensing.
  • Test/replace thermistor: If available, measure resistance and compare to spec. Replace the inlet thermistor if readings are incorrect or if the sensor is physically damaged.
  • Control board: If a known-good thermistor and wiring still produce tE2, the main PCB may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
