Siemens Moisture Sensing / Auto-Dry Miscalibration

Dryer runs, but the display shows a very short remaining time, and clothes stay wet.

Possible Causes

Dirty moisture sensor bars, poor drum contact due to a small load, faulty moisture sensor wiring, defective control moisture algorithm.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off and unplug the dryer before performing any internal work.

  • Clean sensor bars: Wipe the metal moisture sensor strips inside the drum with a cloth and white vinegar to remove residues.
  • Adjust load size: Auto-dry works best with medium-sized loads. Very small loads may not contact the sensors enough; use a timed program for very small loads.
  • Check wiring: If the problem persists, access the sensor connections behind the front panel and ensure wires are intact and firmly connected.
  • Control check: If cleaning and wiring are fine, the control board may misinterpret sensor signals and might need replacement.
